For the Coffee
- 2 cups Nespresso coffee
- 1 teaspoon crushed candy canes
- 2 candy canes (whole, for garnish)
For the Peppermint Marshmallow Creamer
- 1/2 cup half & half cream (10%)
- 1/4 cup mini marshmallows
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
For the Peppermint Whipped Cream
- 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (35%)
- 1 tablespoon icing sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract
Instructions
- Brew Coffee: Brew the Nespresso coffee using your machine and keep it hot to serve immediately after preparing the creamer.
- Heat Cream: In a small saucepan, heat the half & half cream over medium heat until bubbles form around the edges, indicating it’s hot but not boiling.
- Melt Marshmallows: Add the mini marshmallows to the heated cream and whisk continuously until the marshmallows are fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Add Peppermint Extract: Stir in 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract into the marshmallow cream mixture, then remove from heat and set aside.
- Whip Cream: In a chilled bowl, whip the cold heavy whipping cream until it begins to thicken slightly.
- Add Sugar and Peppermint: Add the icing sugar and 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract to the whipping cream, and continue whipping until soft to medium peaks form.
- Combine Latte: Pour the peppermint marshmallow creamer into the hot brewed coffee and stir to combine well.
- Top With Whipped Cream: Spoon or pipe the peppermint whipped cream over the latte.
- Garnish: Sprinkle crushed candy canes on top and hang a whole candy cane on the edge of the cup for an extra festive touch.
Notes
- Use fresh, cold heavy whipping cream for best whipping results.
- Adjust peppermint extract to taste if you prefer a stronger or milder mint flavor.
- If you don’t have a Nespresso machine, any strong brewed coffee can be used as a substitute.
