Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 10 oz linguine
Beef and Sauce
- 1 lb ground beef
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup beef broth
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons water
Garnish
- 4 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the linguine and cook according to the package instructions, usually 8-10 minutes, until al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
- Brown the Ground Beef: Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until browned and no longer pink, about 6-8 minutes. Drain excess fat to keep the dish from being greasy.
- Add Aromatics and Sauces: Reduce heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the beef and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant. Stir in the soy sauce, brown sugar, hoisin sauce, ground ginger, ground black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix well to combine all the flavors.
- Thicken the Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch and water to make a slurry. Pour this mixture into the skillet with the beef sauce. Stir continuously and simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef thoroughly.
- Combine with Noodles: Add the cooked linguine directly to the skillet with the beef sauce. Toss everything together to ensure the noodles are evenly coated with the savory sauce.
- Garnish and Serve: Transfer the noodles to serving plates and sprinkle with the sliced green onions for a fresh, mild onion flavor. Serve hot and enjoy your delicious Mongolian ground beef noodles.
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a leaner option.
- Adjust the amount of red pepper flakes to your preferred level of spiciness or omit them for a milder dish.
- To enhance the sauce, add a splash of sesame oil before serving.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently on the stovetop or microwave.
