Description

Mississippi Sin Dip is a rich and creamy cheese and ham dip baked inside a hollowed French bread loaf. This comforting, crowd-pleasing appetizer combines sour cream, cream cheese, sharp cheddar, chopped ham, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce for a flavorful, warm dip perfect for parties or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Dip Ingredients

  • 16 oz Sour cream
  • 8 oz Cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups Sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 cup Ham, chopped
  • 1 tbsp Hot sauce
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

Serving

  • 1 loaf French bread (optional, or serve dip in a bowl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius) to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Prepare Bread: Cut a hole out of the top of the French bread loaf and hollow out the soft inside, creating a bread bowl. Save the removed bread top for serving if desired.
  3. Mix Ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the sour cream, softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, chopped ham, hot sauce, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly blended.
  4. Fill Bread Bowl: Spoon the combined mixture into the hollowed-out French bread loaf, filling it completely.
  5. Wrap and Bake: Wrap the stuffed bread securely in aluminum foil to prevent drying. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until the dip is thoroughly warmed and the cheese is melted.
  6. Serve: Remove from oven, unwrap, and serve the dip warm with the bread pieces you saved and additional crackers for dipping.

Notes

  • This dip can also be baked in a casserole dish if you prefer to avoid using bread as a vessel.
  • Adjust the amount of hot sauce to suit your preferred spice level.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 3 days and reheated.
  • For a vegetarian version, omit the ham and consider adding sautรฉed mushrooms or spinach.
  • Using sharp cheddar provides a nice balance of flavor, but feel free to experiment with other cheeses like Colby or Monterey Jack.
