Description

This Hot Caprese Dip with Roasted Tomatoes & Burrata is a warm, Italian-inspired appetizer perfect for parties or cozy nights. Creamy, cheesy, and bursting with the sweet, roasted flavor of blistered cherry tomatoes, it’s topped with melted burrata and fresh basil for an irresistible combination. Serve it with toasted baguette slices or crackers to enjoy a comforting, shareable starter.

Ingredients

Scale

Roasted Tomatoes

  • 2 cups cherry or grape tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Cheese Mixture

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Finishing Touches

  • 1 ball (4 ounces) burrata cheese, torn into pieces
  • 2 tablespoons fresh basil, chopped
  • Balsamic glaze for drizzling (optional)
  • Toasted baguette slices or crackers for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Tomatoes: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. In a bowl, toss the cherry tomatoes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to coat them evenly. Spread them out on the baking sheet and roast for 15 to 20 minutes until the tomatoes are softened and lightly blistered.
  2. Mix the Cheese Base: While the tomatoes roast, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, and minced garlic in a medium bowl. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and well integrated.
  3. Assemble and Bake the Dip: Spread the cheese mixture evenly into a small baking dish or oven-safe skillet. Arrange the roasted tomatoes evenly on top of the cheese. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 15 minutes, or until the dip is hot and bubbling.
  4. Add Burrata and Garnish: Remove the dish from the oven and gently place torn pieces of burrata cheese over the top. The residual heat will slightly melt the burrata, creating a creamy finish. Sprinkle fresh chopped basil over the dip and, if desired, drizzle with balsamic glaze for added sweetness and tang.
  5. Serve Warm: Serve the Hot Caprese Dip warm alongside toasted baguette slices or crackers, making sure to scoop up the cheesy, tomato-filled goodness in every bite.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes when roasting the tomatoes.
  • Substitute burrata with extra mozzarella or a dollop of ricotta if burrata is unavailable.
  • This dip is best served hot and fresh from the oven to enjoy the melty texture.
