Description

These delicious strawberry tea sandwiches are a refreshing and elegant treat perfect for summer parties. Made with soft white bread, creamy strawberry cream cheese, and fresh sliced strawberries, they are both visually appealing and tasty. Optional thinly sliced peaches and fresh mint leaves add a delightful twist and garnish, making these sandwiches perfect for afternoon teas, bridal showers, or light refreshments.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 8 slices Fresh White Bread (Can substitute with whole grain or gluten-free options)

Filling

  • 8 oz Strawberry Cream Cheese (Softened for easy spreading)
  • 1 cup Fresh Strawberries (Thinly sliced; can substitute with blueberries or raspberries)
  • 1 medium Peach (Thinly sliced, optional for different flavor)

Garnish

  • 1/4 cup Fresh Mint Leaves (For added flavor and decoration)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread: Lay out the eight slices of fresh white bread on a clean surface. Ensure the bread slices are fresh and soft for easier cutting and spreading.
  2. Spread the cream cheese: Using a butter knife or spatula, evenly spread a generous layer of softened strawberry cream cheese on one side of each bread slice, covering all corners for full flavor.
  3. Cut out heart shapes: Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut two heart shapes out of each slice of the cream cheese–spread bread. This will give your sandwiches a festive and elegant look.
  4. Slice and arrange strawberries: Thinly slice fresh strawberries and carefully place the slices on top of the cream cheese on one half of the heart-shaped bread pieces. If using peaches, layer thin slices on top of the strawberries or on separate sandwiches.
  5. Assemble the sandwiches: Place the remaining heart-shaped bread slices (without strawberries) on top of the strawberry-topped halves to form closed-faced sandwiches, gently pressing down to adhere.
  6. Serve immediately: Arrange the sandwiches on a platter and serve right away to preserve freshness and prevent the bread from becoming soggy.
  7. Garnish (optional): Decorate the serving plate or sandwiches with fresh mint leaves for added aroma and an attractive presentation.

Notes

  • For a gluten-free version, substitute white bread with gluten-free bread of your choice.
  • Use fresh, ripe strawberries for the best flavor and texture.
  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to spread easily without tearing the bread.
  • These sandwiches are best served immediately for optimal freshness but can be kept refrigerated for up to 2 hours.
  • Try incorporating blueberries or raspberries as alternate fruit options.
  • Use different cookie cutter shapes for variety and occasion matching.
