Ingredients
Scale
Cake Layer
- 1 pan chocolate cake (9×13-inch), baked and cooled
Condiments and Sauces
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- 12 oz caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate fudge sauce
Whipped Cream
- 2 cups cold heavy whipping cream
- 0.5 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Toppings
- 6 Heath or Skor bars, chopped
Instructions
- Prepare the Whipped Cream: In a cold mixing bowl, beat the cold heavy cream together with the powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form. Chill this whipped cream until you’re ready to assemble the trifle.
- Break the Cake: Take the baked and cooled chocolate cake, and break it into small chunks or cubes, suitable for layering in the trifle dish.
- First Layer Assembly: Place one-third of the chocolate cake chunks at the bottom of your trifle dish. Drizzle one-third of the sweetened condensed milk over the cake, then drizzle one-third of the caramel sauce on top.
- Add Whipped Cream and Fudge: Spread a generous layer of the whipped cream over the caramel layer. Follow this with a drizzle of chocolate fudge sauce.
- Repeat Layers: Repeat the layering process two more times using the remaining cake chunks, sweetened condensed milk, caramel sauce, whipped cream, and fudge sauce, creating three layers total.
- Final Topping: On the final whipped cream layer, sprinkle the chopped Heath or Skor bars evenly over the top. Optionally, add more chocolate fudge sauce for extra richness.
- Chill: Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least 2 hours before serving to let the flavors meld and the dessert set.
Notes
- Use a glass trifle dish or clear bowl to showcase the beautiful layers.
- For best results, chill the whipped cream and mixing bowl beforehand to achieve perfectly whipped cream.
- You can substitute toffee bars with any crunchy chocolate candy bars like Butterfinger or Twix for variety.
- Leftover trifle can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Ensure the cake is fully cooled before breaking into pieces to avoid sogginess.
