Description

Classic 7 Layer Bars are a deliciously rich and easy-to-make dessert featuring layers of graham cracker crust, sweetened condensed milk, butterscotch chips, chocolate chips, coconut, and pecans baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

Base

  • 1ยฝ cups graham cracker crumbs
  • ยฝ cup salted butter, melted

Layers

  • 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1โ…“ cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF. Lightly coat a 9×13-inch baking pan with nonstick spray and line it with parchment paper, allowing the paper to hang over the edges for easy removal later.
  2. Make the crust: In a bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs with melted butter until combined. Firmly press this mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form an even crust.
  3. Add the sweetened condensed milk: Evenly drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the graham cracker crust layer.
  4. Layer remaining ingredients: Add butterscotch chips, semi-sweet chocolate chips, flaked coconut, and chopped pecans in that order, spreading each layer evenly and gently pressing down with a fork to compact the layers.
  5. Bake: Place the pan in the oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the top is lightly golden brown.
  6. Cool and cut: When done, loosen the edges of the bars from the pan while still warm, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Once cooled, cut into 24 squares using a sharp knife.

Notes

  • For easy removal and clean edges, use parchment paper with overhang in the baking pan.
  • You can substitute pecans with walnuts for a different nutty flavor.
  • Store bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
  • Allow bars to cool completely before cutting to prevent crumbling.
