Description

These 2 Ingredient Bread Rolls are an incredibly easy and quick recipe for homemade bread without the need for yeast or kneading. Made simply with self-raising flour and yogurt, they come together in minutes and bake into soft, golden mini loaves perfect for any meal or snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 cup self-raising flour (or 1 cup plain flour + 2 tsp baking powder)

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup yogurt

Optional

  • Egg wash (1 beaten egg for brushing on top)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 180ºC (350ºF) to ensure it is at the right temperature for baking the rolls thoroughly.
  2. Make the Dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the self-raising flour and yogurt. Stir them together until they form a consistent dough without lumps.
  3. Knead Lightly: Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently bring it together to form a smooth dough ball, avoiding over-kneading.
  4. Shape the Rolls: Divide the dough into even-sized pieces, then roll each piece into small mini loaves or rolls of your preferred shape.
  5. Apply Egg Wash: Optionally, brush the tops of the rolls with beaten egg for a shiny, golden crust after baking.
  6. Bake: Place the rolls on a baking tray and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until they have risen and turned golden brown on top.
  7. Serve: Allow the rolls to cool slightly and serve warm or cold as desired.

Notes

  • You can substitute self-raising flour with plain flour plus baking powder as noted.
  • Use Greek or regular yogurt depending on preference; thicker yogurt may result in a denser dough.
  • Egg wash is optional but enhances browning and gives a glossy finish.
  • Ensure your pieces are sized evenly for uniform baking.
  • These rolls are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
